One of my guiding principles (if that doesn’t sound too grand) as a coach helping people find their mission is this: “Visibility is vulnerable and it’s essential for success.”
If we are doing the work of instigating positive change, we need to embrace this reality. It’s no good remaining in the shadows blending in with the background. Your tribe cannot find you there.
But of course it’s hard, I totally understand, if we dare to zig when others zag and poke our head above the trenches, there is now a very real possibility of having criticism and polarity lobbed at us.
Yes. That will be a distinct possibility, part of the territory -and- should you dare to rise-up and be seen and bring with you a clear, distinct message of change, one that speaks to something that matters, be sure that your right-tribe will find you. Not only that, they will greatly appreciate the position of leadership you have taken up in favour of their cause.
Ascend above the social media noise and hustle, plant your flag.
Can you try out this as a re-frame? ‘if I push through the fear of being seen, of being heard, it means the people who are looking for help can easily find me’…how does that land?
I took this photo in Shoreditch a few months back, I had to squeeze in through a fenced off area to get the shot. But wow, worth it. Go on, be seen.
